Teen Volunteers

Spend some of your summer in the great outdoors when you volunteer at Unity in Learning’s summer camps! Join other teens from Washtenaw County as you develop new leadership skills, gain valuable work experience, and learn about Michigan’s natural history, ecology, chemistry, biology, and physics. Participate in camp favorites like tie dye and silly games!

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

  • Youth 13-17 years old interested in environmental issues, STEM, outdoor education, camp, teaching, or leadership

  • Responsible individuals who are interested in mentoring younger kids and spending the summer outside, rain or shine

  • Folks who want to share their skills and love for music, sports, art, theater, dance, etc. with our campers

  • Youth who can commit to volunteering for at least two weeks, 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday between June and August, 2024

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

  • Develop leadership skills, learn about science, and gain work/volunteer experience

  • Participate in leadership development and skill-building opportunities, and receive performance feedback from Summer Camp Educators

  • Upon request, receive documentation of community service or volunteer hours and a letter of recommendation

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES?

  • Volunteers help lead activities, provide one-on-one attention to campers, prep/put away materials, assist with serving snack and cleaning buildings and so much more!

  • Volunteers must also attend a few training sessions in Spring.
